Voith announced that it successfully starts up the complete production line 6 at Modern Karton in Turkey. Voith, as a full-line supplier, is providing the entire production plant, consisting of the BlueLine stock preparation system and XcelLine paper machine. The plant will produce up to 640,000 metric tons of recycled containerboard annually, thereby increasing Modern Karton’s total production capacity to almost two million metric tons per year.

Valmet, headquartered in Espoo, Finland, the leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries, announced that it is to supply a complete Valmet Advantage DCT 200 tissue line to the Turkish tissue manufacturer Lila Group’s new mill in Erzurum, in the eastern part of Turkey. The TM 5 line will be equipped with stock preparation, a rewinder, and an extensive automation package to achieve high efficiency and low energy consumption in production. The new machine, TM 5, will have a width of 5.6 meters and a design speed of 2,200 meters per minute, adding a capacity of 70,000 tons of tissue products for the domestic and export markets. Start-up is planned for 2026. Valmet has previously delivered four Advantage DCT 200 tissue lines to Lila Group’s mill in Corlu, Tekirdag, in Turkey. Lila Group is a leading Turkish industrial enterprise headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. The group operates in four sectors: tissue paper, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), energy, and textile.

Mondi plc (“Mondi” or the “Group”), a global leader in the production of sustainable packaging and paper, announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the German, Benelux and UK corrugated converting and solid board operations of Schumacher Packaging (“the Acquisition”) (Corrugated converting sites include Bielefeld, Ebersdorf, Greven, Lehrte, Sonneberg, in Germany, Breda in the Netherlands and Birmingham in the UK)(Solid Board mills at Kaierde and Schwarzenberg with conversion sites at Hauenstein, Forchheim, Schwarzenberg and Leipzig-Land (all Germany).
The Acquisition comprises seven corrugated converting plants, two solid board mills and four solid board converting plants. These operations complement Mondi’s existing network of corrugated plants across Central and Eastern Europe, adding over 1 billion square meters of capacity when fully operational. Among the acquired sites are two state-of-the-art mega-box plants in Germany, located at Ebersdorf and Greven. The transaction, which is subject to certain customary regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the first half of 2025. Schumacher Packaging, with 29 sites in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and the Netherlands, is one of Europe’s largest family-run companies in the sector.

Saica Group announced that it has reached an agreement with Schumacher Packaging to acquire their Polish subsidiary. That includes all activities in Poland: the whole management, all employees, two state-of-the-art corrugated board plants in Bydgoszcz and Wroclaw, two paper mills in Grudziadz and Myszków, one of which was completely modernised in 2023 and three service centres. With a capacity production of 440.000 tonnes of paper and 535 million square meters of corrugated board packaging, Schumacher Packaging employs 1,540 people in Poland.

The tissue making line, converting equipment and the biomass boiler will be installed at the Aracruz mill in Espírito Santo, Brazil. The new tissue making line will have an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons. The start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. Suzano is the world’s largest pulp producer, one of the largest paper producers in Latin America.
